It’s no secret that I love art, wine and rescued animals.  All of my pets have been rescued and they all have thrived as they’ve been given a second chance. And they all get along with one another and always have – dogs and cats. Even my 85 pound German Shepherd (who was an emaciated 60 pounds when I adopted him) who moved in with my two cats and recognized he was moving into their home and gave them the space to get accustomed to him.

I also love combining my passions.  This Saturday (9-24-16), as I kick off my second weekend of Open Studios, I’m joining forces with Wine Country Animal Lovers (WCAL) rescue organization.

WCAL is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue serving the upper Napa Valley and Lake County by:

  • Offering local shelter and adoption services
  • Providing resources for lost and found animals
  • Supporting the cities of Calistoga and St. Helena with domestic stray animals
  • Managing the Franquelin Dog Park in Calistoga
  • Promoting education on responsible pet ownership

I’m excited to host WCAL at my studio (101 S. Coombs, Suite H, Napa, CA 94559) and they are bringing their rescued dogs and cats who are looking for new homes.  In addition to the opportunity to adopt, they’ll also share with you how you can be a foster parent to help with the rescued animals, as they always need new homes to help with the new dogs and cats that they rescue. Wine Country Animal Lovers could use some donations to bring a little joy to these rescued pups and kittens, such as cat toys, cat beds, dog toys, Kongs, dog collars /leashes or dog beds.  We’ll have a collection box at the studio, so you can drop off donations all week and weekend.

WCAL has some loyal fans who like also appreciate art, one of which is Peju Winery. Peju will be at the studio to support WCAL, and will be pouring some of their famous wines, guaranteed to delight the crowds.  Peju is a family-owned and operated, sustainably farmed winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley. For more than 30 years, they’ve been welcoming guests to their estate. They invite you to stroll their beautiful gardens, enjoy their contemporary artwork, taste their award-winning wines and sign up for one of their interactive kitchen experiences.

Founder Herta Peju is such a fan of WCAL and art, not to mention a very talented artist herself,  she is personally pouring the tastings. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have both Herta and her Peju wines to share with all of you.
