I’d likePhoto of Joan Jakel to introduce myself.

I’m Joan Jakel.

Now you know my name, but the big question is:

Who am I?

I’ve played many roles over my lifetime: sister, daughter, student, wife, ex-wife, overachiever, community volunteer, lawyer, leader, and entrepreneur, to name a few.  However, these are roles I’ve played, not who I am. That’s an important distinction in life. A few years ago, I realized that I had confused the two.  I erroneously believed my “roles” were a definition of who I was.  They are not.  Since that time, I’ve been committed to a life of exploration to really get to know who I am as a person, what does define me, what makes me jump out of bed in the morning, who I want to serve and how to declare and live into my purpose. My goal was to live a totally fulfilling, authentic, on-purpose life that filled me with passion and bliss!

So, back to the initial question: Who am I? I am a lover of people. A lover of animals. I am a healer. I inspire. I am an Empowerment Instigator. I play the role of attorney to help brave entrepreneurs who dare follow their dreams. I am an adventurer searching for my life purpose and have decided to live the life that truly moves me, not the one that has defined me. I am an artist. I am a writer. I am an avid yoga practitioner. I love every P90X program that Tony Horton has created! I am most alive running mountain trails. I am a great cook. I am a good friend striving to be an outstanding friend. I am a lover of wines. I am excited to be on this journey and enjoy the unfolding of the gift of life.

I’ve learned tremendous lessons over the years. I’m at a place in life where all the lessons have allowed me to discover who I really am, to look behind the roles, to come out from hiding, to stop achieving for unnecessary reasons and to find my voice to share what I have learned with those interested in learning and growing with me.

My new chapter is one of purpose, authenticity, power, balance, creativity, connection and adventure. If this sounds intriguing to you, join me in my adventures and lets play together. This is where you will find me. And when I’m not here, I can be found in all of these wonderful playgrounds. Join me, won’t you?

 Carpe Diem!
