Welcome to Day 26 of the 30 day challenge to be inspired by creativity to more fully step into your life. This challenge stems from the Love Glasses Revolution and their movement to help all people find the good and hopeful in life, in themselves and to create a belief system where each of us has the power to change the world. Today we are going to continue the “Dare Greater” theme of day 25 and add an exclamation point to it with “Never Ever Quit!”
Have you ever noticed that you are tested the most right before you reach the finish line? If you are running a race, the last mile is the most challenging and it often becomes a mental race to keep your head in the game rather than a physical race. I’ve run races where I’ve had to tell myself to just focus on the next step – just one more step, one more step, one more step and made my way to the finish line by focusing on that one step in front of me rather than looking at the many miles that lay ahead, which were too daunting.
When you find yourself in a similar place of being overwhelmed by all that lies ahead of you, stop focusing on all the steps you need to take and drill down into the next step and only focus on that one step. When that step is complete, only then do you look at the next one. This practice can often take you out of overwhelm and allow you to properly focus on the task at hand that needs completion to get you closer to your goal.
When you run a race, you always know where the finish line is located. Life is not always so clear and direct with us when we are going after goals and dreams. Inevitably, life throws us curve balls and challenges which make our dreams seem so far away and perhaps impossible to achieve. Life gets hard. The obstacles get more daunting. However, the real challenge is: you don’t know where the finish line is located. You try to gauge how hard you have to push and for how long and if you have enough gas in your tank and ….
What I have discovered in all my years of existence is that life is the most challenging and appears the most impossible in those moments before the fruition of the dream. The universe is testing you to see if it’s really that important to you – how badly do you want it? Are you willing to do the impossible? Are you willing to sacrifice and never quit to obtain it? Are you willing to run your entire race through exhaustion, pain and obstacles? Or are you going to quit, take the easy road, give up, play small and never experience the victory of success?
If you set goals and follow dreams that are authentic to you, that are planted in purpose and that give your life meaning, then you must commit to never, ever quit. Everything will be worth it at the finish line.
